3 Pole Toggle Switch
3 Pole Toggle Switch are often used to control heavy equipment, such as cranes, conveyor belts and heavy material handling equipment. This kind of switch is sometimes used in combination with control limit switch, which is usually used as backup protection of control limit switch. Once the control limit switch fails, or the contactor is stuck or fused, the switch will disconnect the power supply of motor.
The contact of limit switch is connected in series with the contact of main contactor. Therefore, the limit switch can effectively avoid damage or accident caused by overhead crane or other heavy material handling equipment, or mechanical over travel.
The difference between ordinary limit switch and heavy duty switch is that the former is applied to control circuit, while the latter is applied to power supply circuit. The action of switch will cut off the power supply of motor. The switch needs at least two normally closed contacts to disconnect the two-phase circuit of the motor.
The heavy duty switch has both lever type and rotary cam type. Its structure is firm. The rated value of contact current is the same as that of the motor. If the value is too high, arc extinguishing device will be provided at the contact.
