The rocker switch can be rocked back and forth, hence the name rocker switch. When you press one side of the switch, the other side lifts. The action is similar to a seesaw. These switches are commonly used because they are reliable.
Customers all over the world prefer this form of switch. The poles represent the number of circuits controlled by the rocker switch. You can classify it as a unipolar rocker switch and bipolar rocker switch.
According to different usage scenarios, rocker switches are widely used in life and work, such as water dispensers, treadmills, computer speakers, battery cars, motorcycles, ion TVs, coffee pots, power outlets, massage machines, and various Light industrial equipment, etc.
What is the difference between unipolar and bipolar switching?
In bipolar switching scheme carrier signal have both positive and negative polarities whereas in unipolar switching scheme carrier signal have only one polarity that is either in positive or in negative.
- SPST: 1 moving contact and 1 stationary contact. only 1 channel
- SPDT: 1 moving contact and 2 static contacts, (the static contacts on both sides can be connected respectively)
- Double pole single throw: 2 moving and 2 stationary contacts, with 2 channels
- Double pole double throw: 2 moving contacts and 4 static contacts, there are 4 channels (2 static contacts on both sides can be connected respectively)
Single stage switch connection
The switch button is generally printed with “1, 0” to indicate the two states of the switch on and off. Press the “1” end, which is generally the switch on position. At this time, two of the three pins must be connected, the resistance between is zero.
Then the other foot, the third foot, is the landing end of the indicator neon bulb with a 100K resistor in series in the switch button. This foot should be connected to the power neutral.
When the switch is turned on, the two feet with zero resistance when the switch is turned off touch the live wire of the power supply (of course, it refers to the AC mains). The pin whose neon bulb does not light up is the lead that should be connected to the live wire of the power supply foot.
The other foot is the output end after the switch is turned on, and it is connected to the hot end of the primary of the transformer (the cold end is naturally connected to the neutral line of the power supply). In this way, if the connection is correct, the indicator light bulb in the button will light up when the switch is turned on and turn off when it is turned off.
Double pole switch connection
There are 2 rows of pins, each row has 3 pins in a double pole double throw switch. The middle one is the common terminal, corresponding to the left and right 2 pins. One is normally open and the other is normally closed.
The other row is the same as this one, normally open to normally open, common point to common point, normally closed to normally closed. These two rows are completely independent of 2 groups, and connecting them is the channel.
Connection method
Common point 14 is normally closed, 36 is normally open, if it is a single connection, 12 or 23 can be connected.
